Fastening and assembly
You can hang up a balcony blind yourself, without drilling. So it can also be done in a rented home. The blind has metal rings (eyelets) all around. Thread cable ties or elastic cord through them and secure the blind to the railing, the balusters, or the frame of your balcony.
What do you need?
- Your custom-sized balcony blind, with eyelets all around.
- Fastening materials: cable ties (secure and affordable) or elastic cord (slightly more flexible in strong winds).
- Scissors or wire cutters to trim the ends of the cable ties.
Hanging it up in 4 steps
- Start at the top in one corner. Secure the blind loosely so that you can still move it.
- Work towards the other top corner. Secure each eyelet to the railing along the way.
- Then do the sides and the bottom. Secure it to the posts, balusters, or the bottom rail.
- Tighten everything evenly. This way, the blind hangs taut, does not flap in the wind, and wears out less quickly.
Blind woven through the balusters?
Weave the blind alternately through the balusters and secure it at the top and bottom with cable ties. Note: a woven blind requires more width. Read how to measure to learn how to measure it with a rope.
Balcony sticker on glass
A balcony sticker does not require any fastening materials. Apply at a minimum of 10 °C. Clean the glass and remove any grease, then lightly spray it with water mixed with a drop of dish soap. Apply the sticker, slide it into place, and squeegee the moisture and air bubbles from the center outwards with a squeegee or card. Then let it dry slowly for a day.
Sun shading without drilling
You clamp the Flexframe between the floor and ceiling, and hang a roller blind in it. Read sun shading without drilling to find out how that works.
Tips
- After a stormy day, check that everything is still securely fastened.
- Do you live in an apartment with a homeowners association? Then check if there are any rules for balcony screening.
